REGULAR PHYSICAL ACTIVITY CAN HELP TO MANAGE CHRONIC CONDITION SYMPTOMS AND IMPROVE THE HEALTH OF THE PATIENT. Aerobic exercise can help to improve cardiovascular status and functional capacity, with the added bonus of encouraging weight loss. Strength training can improve muscle strength, and make it easier to perform activities of daily living. Flexibility exercises help to attain optimal range of motion of the joints, so they can function best. Stability exercises help reduce the risk of falls, and prevent serious orthopaedic injuries.
Our Chronic Disease Management Program consists of 60 minute group exercise sessions twice a week run by Biokineticists.
These classes will provide the following:
- Pre- and post- exercise screening
- A combination of Aerobic, strength and flexibility training
- Motivation to patients
- Choosing activities that are fun
- Realistic goal setting
- Celebration of Progress
